Faulkton Area Medical Center is seeking a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapy Assistant to fill a part-time position in our therapy department. Applicants must possess either a Masters or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution OR have completed an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program. Physical Therapy Assistant will be supervised by a licensed Physical Therapist.
Individuals must possess and maintain current SD licensure.
Schedule includes weekdays with occasional weekend coverage and holidays as appropriate for patient's continuity of care.
Work environment is indoors, safety-sensitive, on-site presence required with the ability to work remotely on charting or CME. May require patient in-home visits and school visits.
Must be able to interact effectively with patients, public, and co-workers in person, via telephone, and other electronic communication.
Essential duties for a PT include, but are not limited to:
- Review physician referral and patient's condition and medical records to determine treatment required.
- Provide a skilled PT evaluation and treatment and devise appropriate treatment plan and goals.
- Develop, maintain, and restore maximum movement and functional ability, in order to maximize quality of life.
- Complete documentation as dictated by private and Medicare guidelines.
- Administer appropriate skilled interventions including therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, neuromuscular re-education, gait training, and therapeutic activities.
Essential duties for a PTA include, but are not limited to:
- Performing components of physical therapy procedures and related tasks selected by supervising PT
- Assist PT in providing services that help improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease.
- Administer active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, massage, heat/light/sound/water/electrical stimulation including ultraviolet and infrared, hot and cold packs, intermittent and static traction.
- Observe patients and evaluate data on responses to treatments and progress.
- Report verbally or in writing to the PT.
Physical demands include but are not limited to:
- Frequent standing and walking.
- Ability to safely lift equipment and patients, as needed.
- Frequent pushing, bending crouching, kneeling, stooping, reaching, grasping, and fine manipulation.

Pay range for a Physical Therapist: $45.00-$50.00/hour dependent upon education and experience
Pay range for a Physical Therapy Assistant: $25.00-$30.00/hour dependent upon education and experience
